Six Basic methods to cut down calories

If you are planning to lose weight and are counting your calories, you know that every bit counts. If you want to reduce the amount of calories you are eating, there are some tricks that you can use. However, you should always consult with your physician to establish the minimum amount of calories you can consume to lose weight safely. Here are six ways to cut down calories:

 1. Replace Juice with Fruit

Eat a piece of fruit whenever you feel like reaching for a sugary juice or soft drink. Juices have a lot of added sugar. Or, you can reduce your caloric intake to zero and drink water instead of juice.

2. Go for Smaller Portions

Opt for smaller sandwiches, iced coffees or ice creams. Downsizing just a little can make a big difference in the amount of calories.

3. Cut Down on Cheese

Cheese contains a lot of fat resulting in a lot of calories. Choose the light or low fat version of cheese instead.

4. Choose Fresh Fruit Instead of Dried

Choose fresh fruit instead of dried; it has more nutrition and lesser calories.

5. Measure the Amount You Eat

Measure the amount of foods you eat (e.g. nuts, breads or biscuits), and make sure you don't eat more than one portion.

6. Drink More Water

The size of your stomach limits the amount of food you can eat at once. Fill your stomach with water, which not only keeps you hydrated, but it also keeps you full for a longer period of time. Water has zero calories!
